The primary responsibility of the position is the writing, processing, researching, analyzing, and reporting associated with government grants/contracts and foundation grants regarding various Salvation Army programs and services such as Pathway of Hope, Anti Human Trafficking, Harbor Light, Family Caring Center, Comprehensive Social Services, Corps Program needs, etc.
Secure new government grant opportunities and maintain current funding contracts or applications.
Develop and foster professional relationships with local, county, and state officials and agencies.
Essential Functions:
Primary responsibility is researching and writing local, state, and federal government grant proposals for The Salvation Army programs and services.
Support and assist the Director of Government and Foundation Relations with preparation of grant outlines, summaries, application processes, meeting preparation of proposals to various program department heads and Officers, collecting necessary documentation and approvals for all grant submissions.
Assist in the submission of foundation grant applications, which includes reviewing, proof reading, editing, and compiling grant and contract applications.
Participating in webinars and on-line trainings regarding grant opportunities and requirements.
Prepare and process all government contract reports to appropriate government agencies and comply with reporting requirements.
Track funding and expenditures of all secured grant awards from various funding sources.
Maintain a tracking system for when reports are due and annual application renewals to ensure all deadlines are met.
Follow-up with officers and program directors as needed to ensure all deadlines are met.
Assist with disbursement of information to the program directors with outline of expectations and grant requirements to maintain compliance with grant agreements.
For all reimbursement grants, compile necessary documents and processing paperwork to government entities for awarded funds.
Work with the Finance department to obtain all necessary invoices/check copies/EFT Forms required.
Accessing various government and foundation websites to research and complete online applications and complete reports.
Maintain a spreadsheet of all grant funding secured or pending grant submissions.
Support and assist the Director of Government and Foundation Relations with day-to-day tasks such as writing cases of support for proposals, thank you letter templates and other necessary narratives as needed.
These duties and responsibilities are not all inclusive and may be modified to include other job-related duties at the discretion of the supervisor.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Proficiency of all Microsoft Office Applications and Adobe Acrobat High attention to detail and accuracy Organizational skills and time management a must Ability to understand and execute complex instructions.
Ability to work on multiple projects and prioritize accordingly.
Ability to interact and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Travel is required at times.
Must have a valid PA driver's license and access to a vehicle.
Excellent interpersonal skills, able to relate professionally and effectively with key constituencies (both internally and externally), with an ability to deal well with sensitive situations and confidential information.
All three PA Clearances required upon employment and thereafter upon renewal date:
PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Request for Criminal Record, and Fingerprint based on federal criminal history.
PA Mandated and Permissive Reporting and The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe training required.
Will respect and promote the interest of The Salvation Army.

EDUCATION AND
Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Writing and/or Research At least 2 years of experience with grant writing and reporting, technical writing and/or contracts management Experience with contract law and language a plus Acknowledgement of Religious Purposes of the Salvation Army The employee acknowledges that he/she has been informed and understands The Salvation Army's religious purpose and status as a church.
